UNIVERSITY PLANNING

Located in Pondicherry, with a view towards the beach. The main buildings of this project that includes the classrooms, offices and other main educational spaces were hence designed as a stilted construction, providing its users with an enticing view of the beach. Providing good views, aesthetics and good atmosphere is a major factor in promoting a good educational experience for the students. Furthermore, outdoor learning spaces located on the ground underneath this stilted building enhance this experience. The building provides the much needed shading for these open educational areas and yet keep the spaces open without any walls to take in the surrounding nature and gardenscapes.Surrounding the buildings and lining the pathways, are proposed gardenscapes in the form of Miyawaki Forests. Miyawaki Forests, being the idea of the Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki to compress layers of trees, shrubs and so on into small pockets of land, forms shaded pathways and calm garden spaces for recreation.
